COLOURLESS WATER REPELLENT
HUM-PROT MATE is a colourless, liquid surface water repellent based on polyalkylsiloxane resins and organic solvents, specially designed to prevent water penetrating surfaces eliminating dampness.
Due to the low molecular weight and the relatively small size of the polyalkylsiloxanes and to the type of solvents used, it has a high penetration power in the most frequently used materials in construction, thus getting better results in waterproofing projects. HUM-PROT MATE does not form continuous films on the material surface avoiding the passing of water vapour, but penetrates into the substrate where, through polymerisation processes, it creates water-repellent effects, without altering the vapour transmission rate of the material, or affecting what’s commonly known as substrate breathing.
Due to the structural composition of the resin, HUM-PROT MATE has good alkaline resistance, which produces highly water-repellent results to materials of alkaline nature.
Its colourless appearance produces results which, in general, don’t alter or affect the original colour of the treated materials, but it is recommended to make prior tests, given the great variety of materials which can be waterproofed with HUM-PROT MATE.
The water-repellent effects of the surfaces treated with this product are characterised by the presence of a noticeable pearly effect (drop formation) a few hours after applying the product. The total effect of its waterproofing power is not achieved until about 48 hours after application.

HOW TO USE
Fields of Application:
HUM-PROT MATE is especially developed for waterproofing most of the materials used in building outside walls in civil works, industrial premises, etc.
Coverage:
The coverage rate when applying HUM-PROT MATE greatly depends on the absorbency and porosity of the material and, as a consequence, the yield to get complete substrate saturation greatly varies with the nature of the material. As a rule, we estimate coverage of 3 – 6 m2 per litre.
Method of Use:
HUM-PROT MATE must always be used as supplied. It can not be diluted or mixed with other products. The materials to be treated with HUM-PROT MATE must be totally dry, perfectly clean and free from loose or decayed material. When treating substrates or materials which are damaged by carbonation, and/or cracks, these should be repaired with no-retraction mortars, such as our PREMHOR® or, if necessary, with polyurethane mastics such as our SATECMA ELASTIC PM33®.
The application of HUM-PROT MATE must be done by soaking the surfaces until saturated, which can be achieved by curtain spraying, brushing or with soft hair brushes. When applying the protection in several coats, (if working on highly absorbent materials) it may be necessary to perform the process wet on wet, that is, the second coat must be applied just after finishing the first, not allowing any more time between coats than absolutely necessary.
Do not apply when temperatures are higher than 30-35ºC, or on surfaces directly exposed to intense sunshine.
If there is some product left in the container when finished it must be kept tightly closed, as dampness and carbon dioxide are enough to start polymerisation, an irreversible process which renders the product unusable.
