In Puerto Rico, a significant restoration project was undertaken for a concrete roof spanning 3,300 square meters. The roof had suffered extensive damage due to a combination of extreme heat, high humidity, and frequent rainfall, leading to a badly weathered asphalt coating that required immediate attention.

One of the major challenges of this restoration was the region’s regular rainfall, which is not ideal for coating applications. However, the team at MSP Coatings Ltd. was up for the challenge.

To begin, the deteriorated asphalt layer was completely stripped from the roof. The next step involved applying two coats of Tecma Paint AH, a specially formulated adhesion primer designed for damp surfaces. While Tecma Imperal H20 can be applied in wet conditions, the contractors opted for a cautious “Belt & Braces” approach by using the Paint AH to ensure optimal adhesion.

Once the primer was set, the team proceeded with the application of Tecma Imperal H20. To further enhance the application process in the challenging climate, they mixed the Imperal H20 with a 10% solution of Tecmasol H20 Solvent. This modification reduced the viscosity of the mixture, allowing for smoother application even under less-than-ideal weather conditions.

This project not only showcases the resilience and adaptability of MSP Coatings Ltd. but also highlights the effectiveness of our innovative coating solutions, even in the face of adverse weather. With the use of Tecma products, we were able to restore the concrete roof efficiently and effectively, ensuring durability for years to come.
